Pat Sullivan Rewards Most-Improved Elementary Schools

Covington, Washington – Pat Sullivan successfully passed House Bill 1998 to create the Apple Award to honor public elementary schools with the most improved performance on the fourth grade WASL.

“I’m proud of the progress our schools have made in teaching reading, writing, and math,” said Pat Sullivan, who is a former PTA president and the vice chair of the Education Committee in the State House. “The Apple Award is a way to honor the most-improved elementary schools, and to focus on their very important achievements.”

According to Pat Sullivan, each school selected for the Apple Award will receive $25,000 to use for capital construction projects that have been chosen by the school's students and approved by the school board. The projects will be sited at the school or in the surrounding community.
