Pat Sullivan Works for Stronger Sex Offender Laws

Covington, Washington – Pat Sullivan supported the improved sex offender laws that passed the State House.

“The tough new measures have the support of law enforcement, prosecutors, and victims’ rights advocates,” said Pat Sullivan. “My colleagues and I have worked diligently to make sure we’re doing all we can to keep our children safe.”

Many new bills became law this year, including: mandatory sentences of 25-years-to-life for rape or molestation in the first degree when the offense is committed by strangers, teachers, coaches, or authority figures; a new civil protection order which will increase access for petitioners who are minors; and more electronic monitoring for sex offenders.

Pat Sullivan agrees that strengthening sex offender laws is a bipartisan issue with overwhelming public support.
